Clinical Psychology  ·  Royal Oak, Michigan

Practical, evidence-based therapy for anxiety, ADHD, and learning differences.

I'm Dr. Aaron Goldner, a fully licensed clinical psychologist in Royal Oak. I work with adults and teens (13+) facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and learning differences — along with the academic, social, and self-esteem struggles that come with them. My approach is direct and practical: real strategies that add up to lasting change, taken one step at a time.

No cost, no pressure — a short call to see if we're a fit. In-person sessions in Royal Oak; telehealth for established Michigan clients.

You might be here because…

Whatever brought you here today, you're allowed to want things to feel easier. Some of what I hear most often:

For adults

  • The to-do list gets done, but your mind never clocks out.
  • Focus, deadlines, and follow-through feel harder than they should.
  • You look fine on the outside and feel exhausted underneath.
  • The same patterns keep resurfacing in new relationships.

For children & teens (13+)

  • Mornings before school have become a daily fight.
  • A bright kid who's quietly decided they're "the dumb one."
  • Big feelings that arrive faster than the words for them.
  • They've been told to "just try harder" one too many times.

Why this practice is different

A psychologist who has sat on your side of the room.

What makes me uniquely positioned to help isn't only my training in psychology and education — it's having worked through many of these same challenges myself. I've lived with ADHD, a learning disability, a developmental vision impairment, and mild narcolepsy. I know what it is to work with a brain that doesn't come with a manual.

I trained as an artist at RISD before I became a psychologist, which taught me to see the whole person before naming any single part. That combination — clinical discipline and lived experience — shapes every session. Not a diagnosis to manage, but a life to build.

The evidence I lean on
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches — cognitive-behavioral and acceptance-based therapies, adapted for how a given brain actually learns. The lived experience shapes the how; the research shapes the what. Full modality details live on each service page.
